This Week's Challenge-

"In with the new....out with the Old"

Once again blogger ate my post and failed to deliver as scheduled on Tuesday morning. Sorry about that. Maybe my new years resolution should be to check my blog more frequently...

Good morning all. Hope that you had a wonderful Christmas. For us it was wonderful with a large portion of the family gathered around us, still sad that some couldn't join us, but wonderful never the less. It was fun to see the delight of the littles and the bigs alike Christmas morning and to join with our church family Christmas Eve at candlelight service. Now we are enjoying the school break, playing with our new toys and enjoying a bit of snow. Blessings all!

I don't know about you but every year I search for a design for my Christmas cards that is mailable. You know what I mean, not to many layers, nothing to lumpy or bumpy to make the postman go well postal and make me pay $1 for each card I need to mail. When I first saw the new Our Daily Bread Designs set Warm Wishes I knew that I had found this years card because it doesn't get any more mailable then a super clean and simple one layer card. On this card I did use some taffeta ribbon which lays really flat and a little tree charm, tho the charm will be left off of the ones I mass produce. I added a couple of touches of glitter to the snow and some touches of flower soft just to give the card a little interest.

Hello all! Did ya miss me? Sorry I have been MIA for the last couple of weeks but I had sinus surgery that ended up complicated by a major infection. The headaches were nearly unbearable but I am finally feeling a bit better.

I managed to find a spare moment or two this evening to play along with a couple of challenges. Firstly the Mojo Monday sketch challenge and secondly the SplitCoastStampers color challenge. They were both a bit tricky the sketch was a bit complicated but I do love how it came out and the colors are a tad bright but worked wonderfully with one of my favorite designer papers, Prima Madeline.

I added some distressing to both the background and some of the layers, finishing with my verse and some fun star brads.

I am so excited about tomorrows Our Daily Bread Designs new release that I just had to squeeze in time to share a sneak peek for you while playing along with the Stampin' Sisters in Christ challenge. Their challenge this week is to make a red, white and blue thank you card.

The sets Not Forgotten and the Old Flag background are simply beautifully done. The first time I saw them it brought a tear to my eye because I have a young man from my church that is currently serving in Afghanistan and he has been injured in the line of duty. These sets are exactly what I needed to make a card to sent off to him to let him know that I (and my whole family) are thinking about him and praying for his safe return.

For my card this month I used the new set Serve the Lord and the matching crocheted border and crocheted Circle dies. First of all this set is gorgeous and really easy to work with. I am always thrilled by the matching dies, they make putting a card together so easy. And easy is so what I need in my life right now. I stamped the crocheted circle twice, once with brown ink and once with black. I colored the black one with copic markers, cut around the inner circle, then sponged lightly. The brown one I cut out using the die then sponged the edges with distress ink. When I layer the two pieces together it make a nice focal point for my card. I layered some lovely Prima designer paper with the crocheted border, added a verse and a big bow and my card was finished.

Good morning all! Today is my turn to share on the Our Daily Bread Designs blog. I decide to share this framed piece that I created for my second son Daniel who will be graduating from high school next month. Now Daniel is the cause of at least half of my grey hairs, he is a good boy but way, way, way to much like his mother. He is the child my parent's wished upon me when they threatened me with "a child just like me". But it looks like we will all survive high school and in the fall he is headed off to college, where he will be playing division 2 lacrosse.

Since I have been in a simple kinda card mood lately I decided to make two fairly quick and easy cards to share with you today. On the first one I used one of the smallest stamps from the Birds & Butterfly labels set as a little medallion and a scripture from Scripture Collections 5. I cut out the medallion using my Grand Caliber and the Spellbinders labels 18 set which perfectly coordinates. Basic Grey's Marjolaine designer paper went perfectly with some fun ribbon I picked up last week.

For my second card I went all manly with the Birch background and the Father's Day set. Now my dad loves Moose and I know that I will be making his father's day card with this set for sure! Once again I went for simple. Simple, easy straight stamping, a bit of sponging, a scrap of ribbon and some brads. My moose cut out with Spellbinders classic circles and layered on the ODBD fancy ovals.

For my card I used the set He Will Rise. I so love the three crosses image. Instead of coloring the image I just did some soft sponging then cut the stamped image out using my Grand Caliber and the large classic circle and the large scalloped circles. (Have I told you lately how much I love my Grand Caliber?) I layered several different patterns of the Basic Grey designer paper Marjolaine then added some ribbon and a big old Prima flower that I have had in my stash forever and never used.

Hello all! I hope you had a great weekend. I know I did. Between all those before work household chores this morning I managed to sneak in a little stamping time so I could share a sneak peek of one of tomorrows new Our Daily Bread Designs releases with you. Hello everyone. I worked the mid-shift today so I found a bit of playtime this morning and time to share this evening. I was intrigued by the SplitCoastStamper Technique Lover's challenge (aka try a new technique) today which was to create a Bargello Design. I used some Basic Grey scraps to make my background then layered it up with a classic circle and a lacy circle created with my Grand Caliber and a couple of my favorite Nestabilities. If you look very carefully you will notice that my soft sky circle has the ODBD Fish background on it and the lovely verse of from the ODBD Anchor stamp set. My layout is inspired by the CPS sketch and the Stampin' Sisters in Christ challenge.

For my card I chose to use what I think may be my favorite of this new release, "Anchor". I love the image and spent an entire evening experimenting with different ways to color it. On this image I combined color with markers, sponging and a bit of white gel pen. I then cut and embossed my verse (using my great big beautiful Grand Calibur) adding a bit of sponging. It is all layered on a piece of Basic Grey Wander designer paper with an anchor charm and some star brads.

Now those of you that are regular followers know that I am also a part of the Papertake Weekly challenge team so I have a bit of a conflict when ever the first falls on a Tuesday. This month I decided to combine the challenge with my blog hop card since the challenge is "Anything Goes" (with the option of flowers, that I opted not to use) it seemed appropriate. I am finishing up some half done projects that I started earlier this month and never quite managed to complete. I have to say that this super simple card turned out exactly how I pictured it. This is just what I wanted to do with this stamp set (Our Daily Bread Designs; Butterfly Corner) the first time I laid eyes on it. Good morning all. It is a bright super cold morning here in central NY. My sinus headache has finally retreated enough for me to head to my office and finish up some projects I have been working on for the last week or two. I started this one last Wednesday for the SCS sketch challenge and the Color Throwdown challenge. I could not manage to get the center panel correct for anything. Good morning all. It is the first Tuesday morning of the new year and time for the Papertake Weekly challenge. This weeks challenge is an easy one, "Anything Goes" with an optional challenge to add a bit of lace.

Now I got out my new Grand Caliber again to make this card. I gotta say that it is one of the easiest machines to use. No doubt about what plates to use, they are all labelled really clearly. Christmas came just a little bit early for me this year. The other day I received a great big box of happiness in the mail! My brand new Spellbinder's Grand Caliber! It is BIG! but oh so quiet and super easy to crank!

Since I needed to do my "Time with" post for Our Daily Bread Designs and my challenge card for the Papertake Weekly challenge, this weeks challenge is "Anything Goes", I decided that would be the perfect time to give the new machine a whirl.

I love that I can cut out several images at a time and that the machine is so easy to crank. The plate sandwiches are super easy to put together, each one is color coded and labeled. Now that I can cut out some of the jumbo Spellbinders, I will need to pick some up with my next order so that I can give those a try too!

I am absolutely thrilled to share this simple little card with you that I created. I chose the smaller ornament from the Our Daily Bread Designs Ornaments set and paired it up with the matching Spellbinders Heirloom Ornament dies and a verse from Christmas Blessing which I cut out using the Spellbinders Classic Ovals. The ornament is stamped in Versafine black, embossed with clear embossing powder then colored with Copic markers. I then added a touch of glimmer mist, which never shows well in the photograph but in real life is has a nice soft shimmer. I layered the colored ornament on a larger layer of Heirloom diecut then layered that on my current favorite Christmas paper; Basic Grey's Jovial.

Hello all! Winter is on us with a vengeance here in Central New York. A little over 10 days ago we had had no snow yet for the season, then we got blasted. Four feet of snow in four days and it hasn't stopped for more then a day at a time since. With snow totals someplace in the 60" region you can image that I have been a bit distracted. So much extra time has been spent shoveling or driving or obsessing over having to drive in the snow that I haven't had much play time at all lately. Since I had a short day at work today, and a stress free drive home courtesy of my hubby I thought I would indulge in a bit of crafty play time this evening. I am super excited that I managed to actually get two cards done. The first card I made using Our Daily Bread Designs Blessings and some lovely Basic Grey Curio designer paper. I made it for the SplitCoastStampers sketch challenge and this weeks Color Throwdown Challenge.

Good morning all! Can you believe that it is December all ready? Well it is, so it is time for the Our Daily Bread blog hop! If you arrived here from Kathy Jones's blog Inspired to Stamp, then you are in the right place. If you just popped in from somewhere else you may want to head over to the Our Daily Bread Designs blog and start the hop at the beginning. I am super excited that Our Daily Bread Designs has been chosen to partner with Spellbinders. I love ODBD and Spellbinders and to have them working together is going to be amazing. I was inspired by the plaid BG Jovial designer paper as I remember having a christmas dress as a little girl in a very similar plaid. Using that as a base for my design I colored and sponged my embossed ornament, which I cut out with the Spellbinders die. I stamped the poinsettia section of the ornament a couple of extra times, fussy cutting out the layers then reassembling it to give a bit of dimension to the flower.

I hope you are having a fabulous Thanksgiving weekend all my friends here in the state. Our Daily Bread Designs is having a little special to celebrate.

I have so much to be thankful for that a list (in no particular order, just how they popped into my head) is called for to celebrate the holiday:
1. For my husband Jeff. Though we are complete opposites he is still my best friend and my knight in shining armor, even after more then 25 years together.
2. For my pack of wild children; birth, adopted and foster. They are each so different but so wonderful. I am grateful every day the God chose to put them in my life.
3. For my family, even though we rarely agree on anything I know that you are always there for me and love me despite the fact that I went in a direction that you never expected.
4. For my crazy house, that will never, ever be finished but is full of life and children running in and out at all hours of the day and night.
5. For the most fabulous friends in the entire world! My girls locally that are always there for me, no matter what. Who put up with the fact that I have to walk 5 miles a day when I am at the beach, who bake without nuts just for me, who listen always and are up for bacon at breakfast anytime. For what my kids call my "imaginary friends" that live in my computer. Some of whom I have actually managed to meet in real life. Love you girls!
6. For my church family, I so appreciate you standing in for my family so far away.
7. For my community. I live in a small town, less then a mile from the high school I graduated from and there is something so comforting about being where you know exactly what to expect.
8. For my job. I LOVE my job. Despite aching feet, a sore back and box bruises, crazy shoppers and weird hours, I still love my job.
9. For having discovered a craft that I lets me express my creative side. And the design teams that I am and have been a part of that encourage me to continue. Specifically for Our Daily Bread Designs that not allows me to combine my love of the Lord with the creativity that fulfills me.
10. And most important of all for a loving God who has a plan for me...

Now after all that blah, blah, blah how about a card?

Good morning all. Gearing up here for the holiday season. Work is crazy, cause ya gotta love working retail at this time of year and I do! But I have begun to except the fact that I will probably not be able to finish my Christmas cards, though I still keep hoping. So I will do a couple here and a couple there for some special people. This will be one of them.

Todays Papertake Weekly challenge is entitled "Cut it Out!" Since Our Daily Bread Designs has this cool tag die that matches a couple of stamp sets I thought this challenge would be a great time to drag it out. I paired it up with the Poinsettia Tag set and some fabulous Basic Grey designer paper.
