you are not forgotten...

I am so excited about tomorrows Our Daily Bread Designs new release that I just had to squeeze in time to share a sneak peek for you while playing along with the Stampin' Sisters in Christ challenge.  Their challenge this week is to make a red, white and blue thank you card. The sets Not Forgotten and the Old Flag background are simply beautifully done. The first time I saw them it brought a tear to my eye because I have a young man from my church that is currently serving in Afghanistan and he has been injured in the line of duty.  These sets are exactly what I needed to make a card to sent off to him to let him know that I (and my whole family) are thinking about him and praying for his safe return. What I used: Our Daily Bread Designs Not Forgotten, Old Flag background SU early espresso, not quite navy, riding hood red, basic black, GP white Memento black, Versafine black Ranger brushed corduroy and antique linen Copic markers, sponge, twine, Michael's copper brads

winter playtime...

Image
Hello all!  Winter is on us with a vengeance here in Central New York.  A little over 10 days ago we had had no snow yet for the season, then we got blasted.  Four feet of snow in four days and it hasn't stopped for more then a day at a time since.  With snow totals someplace in the 60" region you can image that I have been a bit distracted.  So much extra time has been spent shoveling or driving or obsessing over having to drive in the snow that I haven't had much play time at all lately.  Since I had a short day at work today, and a stress free drive home courtesy of my hubby I thought I would indulge in a bit of crafty play time this evening.  I am super excited that I managed to actually get two cards done.  The first card I made using Our Daily Bread Designs Blessings and some lovely Basic Grey Curio designer paper.  I made it for the SplitCoastStampers sketch challenge and this weeks Color Throwdown Challenge .  My second card use...

the Lord is my strength...

Image
I managed to feel up some time yesterday to play around in my office with some of the August release from Our Daily Bread Designs that hadn't seen ink yet.  The Scripture Collections have always been some of my favorites and on this one I used a scripture from the first set.  It paired up so nicely with the new Flower Frames 2.  I stamped the verse in the frame then masked the center and sponged around the frame with wheat colored chalk ink.  I add a bit of color with some Copic markers as well.  For a finishing touch I added one fancy metal brad in the corner so that I could enter the card in this weeks S tampin' Sisters in Christ challenge .   What I used: Our Daily Bread Designs Flower Frames 2 and Scripture Collection 1 SU whisper white, basic black and ruby red card stock more scraps of designer paper that have become anonymous over time Versafine black Versamagic wheat clear embossing powder Copic markers SU designer brad wide black grosgr...

stamping in time with Betty...

Image
It is time again to play along with the Stamping in Time with Betty challenge .  This week Betty's guest host is Marcelle and she is giving us challenge choices. We can choose to either use brads or colored pencils, so being the adventurous type I chose to us both.  Now brads and colored pencils may not be used that much by others people but they are staples for me so this was a super easy challenge. A bunch of the breadsticks are playing along with Betty and Marcelle today so you may want to check out their blogs and see what they have come up with using colored pencils and/or brads. Connie Sabrina Francie Patter Angie Betty My card today was also inspired by three other challenges.  I used flowers as challenged by the Stampin' Sisters in Christ , the sketch from The Lord Have Mercy sketch challenge and my color choices were from the Color Throwdown . stamping in time with Betty...

Image
I haven't found time lately to play along with the Stamping in Time with Betty challenge but this week I was honored to be able to make one of the samples for the challenge.  The guest challenge host is Our Daily Bread Designs own guest designer Randi Barrett and she has challenged us to use tearing or faux tearing in our design. I used one of this months newly released sets Mom from Our Daily Bread Designs.  I stamped the verse on vellum with dark gray ink and tore the edges of the vellum.  After adding some fun Green at Heart designer paper I made one of those scrunchy roses out of some matching designer paper then added die cut leaves, a touch of ribbon and a heart charm. Make sure you pop over to the ODBD blog to check out the challenge and the following design team members blogs to see their samples as well: Randi Angella Chris Betty Now I also made this card with a couple of other challenges in mind.  My color choices were inspired by this weeks Color ...

This weeks Papertake Weekly challenge is sort of an Easter free for all.  So I pulled out this Stampin' Up! stamp set from last year that *gasp* had never actually even been inked up!  I stamped my image twice and colored both images with prismacolor pencils, blended with odorless mineral spirits.  I then cut out parts of the second image and popped them up to adds some extra dimension to the first image.  I used the sketch from this weeks Crazy 4 Challenges and the technique (paper toile) from the Stampin' Sisters in Christ challenge. mojo tuesday?

Image
If you are looking for the Our Daily Bread Design blog hop please scroll down to the post below this one or click here . I started this card this morning then got called into work and almost 12 hours later am finally able to finish it. I combined several challenges on this card. The color combination is from todays SplitCoastStampers color challenge; Very Black Suede . The second challenge is this weeks Mojo Monday sketch , I actually placed my ribbon where the verse panel should have been. And the third is the Stampin' Sisters in Christ challenge which was to have a "gift" some where on the card, hoping that the word gift works for them because it works for me! I stamped the poinsettia from the newly released Our Daily Bread Designs set His Gifts on vanilla card stock with soft suede ink, stamped off once first. I then sprayed the entire thing with Suede glimmer mist. After the mist dried (or more correctly, when I got home from work and kid activities) I stamped t...

a little mojo in my monday...

Image
Sometimes your Mondays just need a little mojo, or at least mine do and when mine needs it, I head on over to the Mojo Monday sketch challeng e for a little bit of inspiration. Todays sketch is a wonderfully simple one. A great one I thought to highlight this really fun Sei designer paper that I have been hoarding all month. I thought I would combine the sketch challenge with this weeks Stamping Sisters in Christ challenge which is to make a card expressing thanks or thanksgiving. Rejoicing is thankgiving, right?
