I'm back...

I am back from Indiana and took a little bit of time to stamp. To the right is one of the cards I did Saturday playing around with a couple of the Dare to be Dirty challenges hostessed by current and past Dirty Dozen Design team members. I was kinda bummed to miss a large portion of the challenges. This card was a lot of fun. I took the main image (which is from Blossoms Abound and stamped with Purely Pomegranate and Wild Wasabi, stamped off first on the more solid images) and cut it into three different pieces, the center one is slightly bigger then the other two. I then mounted each of the piece on Basic Black card stock. The strip of Wild Wasabi card stock is also mounted on Basic Black then has a piece of Purely Pomegranate double stitched grosgrain ribbon tied around it. I laid the whole card out, stamped "my friend" in basic black classic ink then adhered the whole thing together. Very simple card but the black really makes it "pop"!

Most of you that read my blog know that the reason I was in Indiana was to bury my husband's half brother Chad. He took his own life. Chad was a young man crying out for help in a world that either couldn't hear him, couldn't help him or just didn't care. He dealt with his problems in a way that evidentially made some sort of sense to him. We had to say good bye to him and pray that he is now at peace. I wanted to share a couple of pictures of him during happier times. These were taken during his last visit with us at our local skate park.

Thank you for the photos of Chad. His story has been haunting me since I read about him on your blog.

Although I have never met you or Chad, rest assured his story has made me look at kids I may have looked at with distain in a whole new way.
I also wanted to thank you for posting the pictures of Chad. My son is 15 and my heart just breaks about the loss of Chad....the loss of hope....the loss of potential...just simply...the loss. Continuing to pray for all of you.
Debi, I'm so sorry about Chad. God Bless you and your family.
