flashback weekend and blog candy...

In celebration of the one year anniversary for the Elzybell blog and online store I have this wonderful clear stamp set "from me to ewe" to give away. I asked Elizabeth for this set to give away as blog candy because I just think this little lamby is the cutest and I just love the cards I have made with it. I want you all to have a chance to play with him too.

Love the set, and if I had your talent, I'd love it even more (if that's possible). Your cards are gorgeous. We have a thing for lambs in our house - my maiden name means "lamb" and my hubby is Welsh; can you imagine the off-colour jokes at the wedding reception, LOL?

I love this stamp set - my mother collects sheep and spins, felts and knits wool too, so I have a soft spot for them too. We are in the midst of winter in Australia so jumpers are a necessity. Monday I got some new toys from my old demo who is now my upline. One of the things I got was the Pretties Kit. I have been hoarding them, petting them and drooling on them. (Picture me as Golem with his precious) I went so far as to let a friend look at them the other day, but not touch, LOL. So today I decided I needed to just do it and open the box and gasp, use them. Here they are aren't they, well, pretty, my precious, er I mean my pretties? I really did use some of them. First I put a crystal bead and a white pearl on a hat pin. Then I got all wild and crazy and used my aquapainter and a soft sky reinker to dye a couple of flowers and held them together with a rhinestone brad. What do you think? And since I was on a roll this morning I got out another new stamp set called Autumn Harvest and played around with it and the distressing tool from the cutter kit. The leaves may be a bit too much, but over all I am pleased with it.

a time for changes and reflection...

What feels like a million years ago I started this blog to showcase my cards and scrapbook pages. Then life with 5 kids, work and exhaustion left little time for creativity or blogging.  Things are a little different now of course, the baby is heading off to college in the fall, I’m retiring in about 10 weeks, and Jeff and I are looking forward to time for us. But there are things I need to address first. The past year, living through a global pandemic and all its difficulties, has thrown a huge spotlight on what a hot mess I truly am.  I’ve been dealing with autoimmune issues since my 20s. Now in my 50s my weight has crept up, my heart has been affected as well my mobility and the sadness can be overwhelming.  So I’m on a mission to wade through the darkness, simplify my life and rediscover the person I was born to be.
