a little mojo in my monday...

Image
Good morning.  Hope your day is going well.  Mine started out a little rough my oldest daughter isn't feeling well and as a result stayed home from school today but she is happily camped out on the couch watching movies so that I could get in a little bit of creative time.  For my card today I decided to combine the Mojo Monday sketch challenge with todays SplitCoastStampers Try a New Technique challenge, which was to decorate your card inside, as well as out.  Now I have to admit that I am just a tad bit lazy about decorating the inside of my cards.  So it was good that Holly had laid down this challenge.  I used the many layers of the sketch as a perfect excuse to drag out my brand new Basic Grey Green at Heart designer paper and paired it with the Our Daily Bread Designs Scripture Collection 3 . and the inside What I used: ODBD Scripture Collection 3 SU chocolate chip, old olive, pretty in pink card stock Basic Grey Green at Heart chocolate chip cr...

Most of the "the kids are back at school" housework is under control so I snuck off to my office for a little playtime. I was very excited to see that Holly aka Toy is the new hostess of the Try a New Technique challenge. Holly is one of my favorite people on SplitCoastStampers. Her challenge today was paper quilting . I decided to combine that with todays Mojo Monday sketch challenge. I have been hoarding this lovely Sei designer paper for a couple of weeks now but I forced myself to cut into for this challenge and I am happy with the results. What I used: ODBD Confirmation burgundy, grey and white card stock Sei Juliette designer paper basic gray and going gray stamp pad grey taffeta ribbon nesties rhinestones

white poinsettias...

If you want to play along with the Our Daily Bread November Blog Hop either scroll down to November 1st or click here . Do you ever have a picture of a card in your head? You know exactly how you want it to look but it rarely ever turns out exactly the way you planned? Well today I actually managed to make my card look exactly how I wanted it. I have been wanting to make white poinsettias with this set since its arrive and today was the day. I wanted to play along with the SplitCoastStampers Try a New Technique challenge which was to do blank embossing or double embossing. Instead of me explaining how to do the technique I would refer you to the challenge for links and instructions. I chose to do blank embossing, wasn't going to push my luck on 4 hours of sleep, if you know what I mean! Basically what blank embossing does is leave a void in the middle of your embossed background which I filled with this verse from Matthew 1:21 which is from the Our Daily Bread Designs newl...

with heartfelt sympathy...

I had a super busy weekend and it felt so good this morning to settle down in my little office, with the washer and dryer going, knowing that I had time to play along with some challenges. I actually combined 3 challenges together to make this card. I used the Mojo Monday sketch , the SplitCoastStampers Technique Lovers challenge and the Stampin' Sisters in Christ challenge . Below is the Mojo Monday sketch. Todays Technique Lovers challenge is faux suede. If you follow the link above to the challenge Lynn provides a good explanation of this technique. Not sure how well this picture show it but the chocolate chip layer behind the main image is sueded. I love the soft look this gives and the added texture. The Stampin' Sisters in Christ challenge is to show the "earth rejoicing" for that I chose the soft earth tones in this card and the wonder ferns in the designer paper a I have chosen. The stamp set is With Heartfelt Sympathy, one of the new releases from Ou...

origami box

Image
You have probably noticed that I am not really very clever with 3D items. My brain just doesn't seem to work very well in that direction but on occasion I do give one a try. The Technique Lovers Challenge on SplitCoastStampers today is to make this cute little origami box so I figured I would play along and this is what I came up with. If you follow the link above you can see the directions on how I made the box. The only thing I changed is that I put a jumbo eyelet in the lid and bottom so that I could thread my extra wide ribbon through it to hold my box shut. The flowers on the top of the box are cut out then embellished with half back pearls for the pretties kit and dazzling diamond glitter mixed with crystal effects. What I used: Petal Pizzazz stamp set Raspberry Tart designer paper Rose Red, Pretty in Pink and Kiwi Kiss card stock Rose Red, Pretty in Pink and Kiwi Kiss classic stamp pads light weight chipboard (from a cereal box) 1 1/4" wide pink pirouette grosgrain...

flight of the butterfly...

I dashed through the house really quickly this morning, cleaning bathrooms, straightening up and finishing laundry so that I could have some play time in my quiet for the first time in ages house. Yes having everyone do a 15 minute pickup after dinner each night is really helping. The kids went back to school today and Matt left for college as well so the dog, 3 cats and I are enjoying some peace and quiet. I still need to fold laundry (I always have laundry to fold!) but I managed to get to my stamping space by 10 AM pretty close to my goal. I am ashamed to admit that I have had this stamp set since I went to convention in August and it has never seen ink. That is very unlike me. I dragged it out this morning to make a birthday card for a friend. Since it is Monday I decided to play along with both the Mojo Monday sketch challenge and the Technique Lovers Challenge. This mornings new technique to learn is called "Tacky Glitter" you can find the direction at the abo...
