papertake weekly sketch...

Image
Good morning all!  Sorry that it has been a while since I posted.  I came off of my vacation into the Our Daily Bread Designs anniversary celebration (which was fabulous don't ya think?), a house full of chaos and a full work schedule.  When your brain is stuck on island time this is not an easy thing, then throw in the time change and you have a recipe for disaster, in my life anyway.  Hoping that I have it under control now.   This weeks Papertake Weekly challenge is a fabulous sketch from our own Dawny P.  I love this sketch and I already have a second card with it in process.  For this one I sort of stretched the sketch out to make it into a standard A2 card instead of a square card.  I used Kraftin' Kimmie's adorable Lucy & Ricky , colored with my Prismacolor pencils and some of Basic Grey's Sugar Rush designer paper . our sketch: This weeks Papertake Weekly sponsor is: Make sure you pop over to the  team blog  and play along...

papertake weekly Kraftin' Kimmie...

Image
Good morning. You all know I love a challenge and what is better then a challenge? How about combining two challenges? This weeks sponsor for the Papertake Weekly challenge is Kraftin' Kimmie , so I thought it would be brilliant to combine our sketch challenge with Kimmie's "Be a Little Ripper " challenge. Now I turned our sketch to accommodate a long tall image like this Lola Davinci of Kimmie's. I colored my image with Prismacolor pencils blending with odorless mineral spirits and a blending stump to match some scraps of My Mind's Eye Colorful Christmas. I used copic markers for the shadows and flesh tones. If you look very carefully you will notice that my olive green edge is ripped above the sentiment. our sponsor: our sketch: Pop over to the challenge blog and check out what the rest of the team has done.  We would love for you to play along with us.

The challenge machine has been running this week for sure! For this card I decided to combine the Crazy 4 Challenges challenge , which is a sketch this week with Kraftin' Kimmie's challenge which is to use pink, red, and chocolate and for an added challenge to adds some hearts. What I used: Kraftin' Kimmie's Yvette GP white, chocolate chip, pretty in pink and rose red card stock Basic Grey Bittersweet designer paper chocolate chip classic stamp pad Prismacolor pencils, OMS and blending stumps oval Nesties SU full heart punch thin brown twill ribbon

a few of my favorite things...

Image
hmmmm and these are a few of my favorite things...... I will now have that song running through my head for the next week or so but it was just such an appropriate title because this card is full of that. Firstly I love, love, love stamping challenges and sketch challenges are the bestest and this weeks Papertake Weekly challenge is a sketch challenge. Secondly I love Kraftin' Kimmie's stamps and she is our sponsor this week! So what could be better then that? I colored up this Kraftin' Kimmie Lucy & Ricky image to match my Basic Grey Wisteria,( isn't it the most breathtakingly beautiful paper???) designer paper with my Prismacolor pencils blended with odorless mineral spirits and a blending stump. Make sure you stop by the blog and play along with us!

challenges...

Since the weather was so yucky yesterday I spent the day indoors watching movies and coloring. Is that sound like a good day or what? I combined two different challenges together for this first card. I did the Kraftin' Kimmie's; Paper Piecing challenge and the Crazy 4 Challenges; polka dot fun challenge . I have no idea what I was thinking to use this image for paper piecing, everything is paper pieced with the exception of Charlotte's skin and hair and it literally took me 2 hours to cut out all the teeny, tiny bits but I think it was worth it! What I used: Kraftin' Kimmie's Charlotte , SU Lots of Thoughts GP white card stock, kraft Memento black stamp pad My Mind's Eye Magnolia designer paper olive wide grosgrain ribbon clear button, twine Copic markers for flesh, hair and shadow white gel pen My second card is the first card I have made for one of the Sweet Stop sketch challenges . Since I am Sweet 'n Sassy Digis January guest designer I felt it wou...

kraftin' kimmie double challenge

Image
Kraftin' Kimmie's is this weeks sponsor of the Papertake Weekly challenge . It is sketch week again, (the sketch is below) so I thought it would be fun to combine our challenge with Kimmie's weekly challenge which I do every week anyway because I am a big fan. Kimmie's challenge this week is entitled "Touchy Feely" and we are challenged to use lots of texture in our design. For my card I used one of Kraftin' Kimmie's newest images Small Talk from the Cindy and Mindy collection. I colored the main image with Copic markers (see I really am getting a little better with them) to match some Indian Summer Basic Grey designer paper. I added the matching glaze brads and some riding hood red and chocolate chip card stock. Each of the background layers were dry embossed with a different Cuttlebug embossing (swiss dot, textile, diamond) then sanded and sponged to highlight the texture. I added a fun ruffly ribbon and some touch of glaze to the main ima...

challenges...

Image
Avoiding everything I am supposed to be doing today and playing instead. I combined a couple of challenges on this card. The color combination; Pretty in Pink, Bermuda Bay, and Old Olive is todays SplitCoastStampers color challenge . The card layout is from the current Bella SCS sketch challeng e and I am also entering it in the Bella Birthday Bash contest. I colored this Ketto image a while ago to match some Basic Grey Urban Prairie paper and have just been waiting for the perfect time to make her into a card. Today was that day because the paper contains all the colors in the challenge. Ketto is colored with my favorite Lyra colored pencils blending with odorless mineral spirits and a blending stump. Hard to see in the picture but I also added some touches of glitter with a Sakura glitter pen and a bit of glaze with their glaze pen. This second card I did for the Lord Have Mercy sketch challenge . I can't say enough how much I love Mercy's sketches, the simplicity o...

just for fun...

I am a happy girl today. I have spent quite a bit of time lately reorganizing my office. I have finally made the transition from Stampin' Up! business demo to hmmm not sure what the right word would be, artist (sounds kind of pretentious). I won't bore you with all the details today but be prepared because I will share some pictures next week. In celebration of my clean office I just had to sit down and create something. I won this adorable Oliver as blog candy from the last Kraftin' Kimmie's blog hop. I just think he is the cutest so I inked him up and colored him with my Lyra colored pencils, blending with OMS and a blending stump. I added a touch of glitter to the snow around his feet and a touch of glaze to his beak and feet. This weeks Kraftin' Kimmie's challenge is "Lots a Circles" if you look carefully one of my designer papers in a polka dot and the back ground paper has snowflakes that are circles as well. I also added 2 jumbo brads, ...

stitch it up!

Image
Todays Kraftin' Kimmie challenge is to "Stitch it Up! " I colored up Charlotte to match this designer paper from the My Mind's Eye Bloom & Grow pack. I stitched the various layers together, added a touch of moss colored taffeta ribbon and some eyelets. Added a touch of gloss and sparkle with my glaze and glitter pens.

Sorry about not posting all week folks. Had a bunch of drama here in our household, even beyond our normal drama. I fried the hard drive on my computer, don't ask me how, I haven't a clue but since it is my only computer you can imagine that I was just a tad bit annoyed. Anyway long story short I ended up fixing it mostly myself since no one could fix it quick enough for me to fulfill my design team responsibilities. I can say that I learned a lot but that is not an experience that I wanna repeat, if you know what I mean! And let me share a tiny bit of wisdom with you. If you do not own an external hard drive for your computer, run don't walk to your nearest store and buy one, then back it up frequently! Seriously I would have lost everything if I hadn't had one or I would have to have paid someone a fortune to try to retrieve my data. Yes it still took me 2 days to get everything fixed, reloaded, updated and tweaked but I am back in business! Then just when I t...

shades of autumn...

Image
Kraftin' Kimmie's challenge this week is Shades of Autumn . I colored up Charlotte to match this My Mind's Eye designer paper from the Simply Delightful pack. I added just a hint of striped ribbon anchored with olive brads, any more would have been too much with this rather large image. I am having a lot of fun with these images and I love that there are challenges to inspire me. What I used: Kraftin' Kimmie's Charlotte GP white, old olive, pumpkin pie card stock My Mind's Eye Simply Delightful designer paper Lyra colored pencils, OMS, blending stumps glitter pen old olive striped wide ribbon old olive brads white gel pen

playing along with kraftin' kimmie...

Image
I spent a little bit of money on myself and picked up some new stamps. This Kraftin' Kimmie image is one of the newest ones I picked up. This new line of stamps caught my eye. First of all because I love to color but mostly because I adore these slightly twisted kids. LOL, I don't mean that in a bad way if you know what I mean. Since I had the images I thought that playing along with the Kraftin' Kimmie challenge would be good fun. This weeks challenge is Buttons, buttons, who has some buttons? I have these really cute cord covered buttons so added one to this card. What I used: Kraftin' Kimmie Francesca soft suede, buckaroo blue, chocolate chip, very vanilla card stock K&Company Saffron designer paper cord covered button soft suede polkadot ribbon Lyra colored pencils, OMS and blending stump glaze pen stickles
