late night stamping...

I seem to be suffering from another bout of insomnia tonight, the second in less then a week. Tonight I decided to deal with it by just getting up instead of laying there wide awake, tossing and turning. Since todays SplitCoastStampers sketch challenge and the Color Throwdown challenge were both posted early I thought I would straighten up my office and play a bit. But before I show you what I did I wanted to share with you some lessons learned while late night stamping:

1. Double check that you are using the right paper. In the middle of the night they all look alike and Copic markers do NOT work well on very vanilla.

2. Always make sure your stickles are dry before you decide that just what your image needs is to be over stamped with a weathered background. Took me longer to pick all the glitter out of all the nooks and crannies then it did to make the whole card.

3. Measure TWICE before you cut, yes Dad you were right...

4. When you drop your glasses on the floor (because I now seem to be getting to the age where they have to come off to see up close), look before you roll your chair over them.
What I used:
Our Daily Bread Designs His Gifts
weathered and linen background stamps
riding hood red, olive, very vanilla, chocolate chip card stock
My Mind's Eye Signature Christmas
Memento black stamp pad
close to cocoa stamp pad
Basic Grey brads
eyelet border punch
chocolate taffeta ribbon
sponge
Copic markers
stickles

BEAUTIFUL card, Debi! I guess it was meant to be that I was still online after midnight and decided to make the CTD post go live at that point so you could play along! Hope you get some decent rest tonight! I too was on my way to the second sleepless night I've had in a week but luckily I zonked out!

Beautiful card. Thanks for all the heplful hints and tips. I keep an old childrens(small) toothbrush in my stamp caddy for "stickle" type accedints. Use it mainly for cleaning fine detail stamps but now have a second use. Just in case ;}

Oh Debi this is just gorgeous! I love how your middle of the night card came out! I had to chuckle my way through your lessons... I think I've done them all except #4... because my glasses never come off! But I do try not to stamp much after dark because I can't see just right and in the light of day things sure do look different! LOL! YOURS is a masterpiece!!!

My favorite part is your pieces of eyelet scallop border punch with the rhinestone brads separating your panels! Genius!
