Embracing the new catalog!

My new toys have arrived! I have to admit that December seems an odd time for me to be getting new toys since this time of year is all about the kids but this time it was my turn. With the release of the new Spring/Summer Stampin' Up! catalog literally only a couple of weeks away my preorder from the new catalog has arrived. I have to say that having new stamp sets before most everyone else is my favorite perk of being a demonstrator but I am nice and will share with you what I have gotten.

This card is made with the new stamp set Embrace Life, which I have to say is my favorite of the new stuff I have seen. I am very sure that you will be seeing a lot of it in the future. I also used the new Bali Breeze designer paper. I have to admit that at first glance in the preview catalog I wasn't sure that I was going to love this paper but now that I have seen it in real life, I really like it and it goes wonderfully with this stamp set.

What I used:
Embrace Life stamp set
White Naturals, Certainly Celery, Rose Red, Basic Black card stock
Bali Breeze designer paper
Black Stazon
Certainly Celery, Rose Red, Pumpkin Pie classic ink for watercoloring
sponge, vintage brads, Certainly Celery and Pumpkin Pie narrow grosgrain ribbon, Black gingham ribbon

What I did:
I stamped the main image with Black Stazon since I planned on watercoloring. I stamped one flower, created a mask by stamping the flower image a couple of times on scrap paper and cutting them out, then masked the flower and stamped a second flower overlapping the first flower. I then masked that flower as well and stamped the leaves that are in the background. Before I removed the mask I sponged with Certainly Celery ink around the flowers. I then removed the masks and watercolored the image. The image is layered on Rose Red and Basic Black. I used the Bali Breeze designer paper as a background and an other strip of it to add a little interest. Still needed a little something so I added the ribbon and vintage brads to give it a little pop.

I have to say that it felt really good to stamp again. It has taken a lot of time to get my house back into something close to well ordered. I am thankful that my office is usable again and hope to be back to stamping on a regular basis. Thank you for being patient with me.
