Sorry about not posting all week folks. Had a bunch of drama here in our household, even beyond our normal drama. I fried the hard drive on my computer, don't ask me how, I haven't a clue but since it is my only computer you can imagine that I was just a tad bit annoyed. Anyway long story short I ended up fixing it mostly myself since no one could fix it quick enough for me to fulfill my design team responsibilities. I can say that I learned a lot but that is not an experience that I wanna repeat, if you know what I mean! And let me share a tiny bit of wisdom with you. If you do not own an external hard drive for your computer, run don't walk to your nearest store and buy one, then back it up frequently! Seriously I would have lost everything if I hadn't had one or I would have to have paid someone a fortune to try to retrieve my data. Yes it still took me 2 days to get everything fixed, reloaded, updated and tweaked but I am back in business! Then just when I t

Our Daily Bread Design sneak peek!

Image
I could not sleep for some reason this morning so I got up early and actually had time to finish a card before the kids are even all off to school. Good thing since I have to work today. I was quite literally dreaming about this set and the other 2 new sets that Our Daily Bread Designs will be releasing on Sunday, all night long. And you are going to LOVE them! I have a couple of other cards using the sets done already and I will see if I can fit in another sneak peek for you before Sunday. Make sure you visit the Our Daily Bread Designs blog , it has a new location on Sunday so you can participate in the blog hop and challenge. Kelley has a couple of wonderful prizes for you, so you really, really want to play along. For this card I combined two of todays challenges. The Lord have Mercy sketch challenge , I love her sketches and the SplitCoastStampers color challenge . This card is really very, very simple but I think the colors work really well together and the simple sket

spots and stripes...

Image
This weeks Papertake Weekly challenge is (you guessed it) Spots and Stripes. The challenge is sponsored by Simon Says Stamp . Make sure you check out the blog to see all the great stuff the team has done and you really want to play along since I am sure there is a prize involved. I needed a little inspiration so I turned to the Mojo Monday sketch challenge for a little bump to my mojo. I colored up Henry Mouse with my Lyra colored pencils, blended with odorless mineral spirits and a paper stump. I added a little bit of glitter with my Sakura glitter pen and some shine with my glaze pen. Cut him out with my circle Nesties and sponged around the edge with some chalk ink. What I used: Whiff of Joy Henry Celebrating Mouse Stampin' Up! Full of Life GP white My Mind's Eye Everyday Tango Momento black stamp pad VersaMagic Pink Petunia chalk ink Nesties circle and scallop circle Lyra colored pencils, OMS and blending stump white satin ribbon sponge

shades of autumn...

Image
Kraftin' Kimmie's challenge this week is Shades of Autumn . I colored up Charlotte to match this My Mind's Eye designer paper from the Simply Delightful pack. I added just a hint of striped ribbon anchored with olive brads, any more would have been too much with this rather large image. I am having a lot of fun with these images and I love that there are challenges to inspire me. What I used: Kraftin' Kimmie's Charlotte GP white, old olive, pumpkin pie card stock My Mind's Eye Simply Delightful designer paper Lyra colored pencils, OMS, blending stumps glitter pen old olive striped wide ribbon old olive brads white gel pen

with deepest sympathy...

I spent my morning in pursuit of the perfect green card stock of a project I am working on. After visiting 3 stores I have only 4 sheets that will work but are not perfect and I picked up a couple of other sheets of designer paper because ya all know I have paper issues right? But I was a good girl and went right home and used two of them on this card. The main image from Our Daily Bread Designs, With Deepest Sympathy was stamped in close to cocoa and sponged with the same then the verse is embossed on vellum and placed over the main image. What I used: ODBD With Deepest Sympathy very vanilla, soft suede card stock vellum My Mind's Eye Breaking Free designer paper The Paper Studio red country crackle designer paper close to cocoa classic stamp pad versamark MM copper brads Zing copper embossing powder soft suede polka dot ribbon Oval Spellbinders sponge

Image
It is time for another Papertake Weekly challenge . This weeks challenge is sponsored by Toodles & Binks and they have provided a terrific prize so make sure you check it out. Below is the sketch: I tweaked the sketch a bit to make it fit my needs. I stretched it to fit an A2 card and turned it on its side. This adorable Willow (Whiff of Joy) image is one of the stamps from my latest spending spree, financed by selling off a bunch of my old stamps sets that I no longer need now that I am not a demo. If you are interested you can find my list of items for sale HERE . Current Stampin' Up! items can not be sold on SplitCoastStampers but if you contact me through here they can be. another anyone for anya challenge

Image
This weeks Anyone for Anya challenge is to use autumn colors. While sorting through my paper stash for some designer paper with fall colors I stumbled across some scraps of this designer paper. It is from an old retired Stampin' Up! pack that I absolutely loved the colors in. It was so nice to pull it out and use it again. I also used this weeks Mojo Monday sketch , turned to use a tall main image instead of a long one. What I used: The Greetings Farm, Anya GP white, more mustard, buckaroo blue card stock retired SU designer paper buckaroo blue stitched ribbon little leaves sizzlet Prismacolor colored pencils, OMS and gamsol

playing along with kraftin' kimmie...

Image
I spent a little bit of money on myself and picked up some new stamps. This Kraftin' Kimmie image is one of the newest ones I picked up. This new line of stamps caught my eye. First of all because I love to color but mostly because I adore these slightly twisted kids. LOL, I don't mean that in a bad way if you know what I mean. Since I had the images I thought that playing along with the Kraftin' Kimmie challenge would be good fun. This weeks challenge is Buttons, buttons, who has some buttons? I have these really cute cord covered buttons so added one to this card. What I used: Kraftin' Kimmie Francesca soft suede, buckaroo blue, chocolate chip, very vanilla card stock K&Company Saffron designer paper cord covered button soft suede polkadot ribbon Lyra colored pencils, OMS and blending stump glaze pen stickles

praying for you...

Image
Sorry about the big gap in my posts everyone. I told you how crazy football season is for me right? Well I started back at work this week too, so I am still trying to find balance. But I had forgotten how much I love my job, I work at one of those stores that "it all started with a mouse", if you know what I mean, and I came home from work absolutely covered in glitter from all the halloween princess costumes. So today was all about getting caught up around the house then this afternoon I found a little time to stamp. I made this card for today Ways to Use i t challenge on SplitCoastStampers. The challenge was to use Autumn Leaves in our projects. I used one of this months Our Daily Bread Designs stamp sets, Praying for You and die cut leaves. What I used: ODBD Praying for You chocolate chip, more mustard, always artichoke, very vanilla card stock My Minds Eye designer paper always artichoke, close to cocoa classic stamp pad curved rectangle nestabilities, little le

be happy...

Image
It is the yuckiest, dreariest day here! I had to take 4 of my kids to the dentist this morning so my day didn't exactly have a tranquil start to it but I still found some time to squeeze in a little stampin' time. I combined todays SCS sketch challenge with the Color Throwdown challenge AND the Bella's Show & Tell challenge to come up with this one. The color throwdown colors were: kraft, olive green, dark brown and dark yellow, which sounds rather fallish to me SO I figured those colors would work for the Bella challenge which was to use an autumn palette. What do ya think? Now I have to ask you to overlook the slightly smudged stickles. Apparently I got a little excited and put my card together just a little to quickly without waiting for my stickles to dry completely. Should have used glitter instead but my hubby's laundry is currently in my office, and I don't know why but he gets just the teensiest bit cranky when I get glitter on his uniforms. Evi

a time for every purpose...

Image
To Everything there is a season, a time for every purpose. And it is time to celebrate Kelley Holland (the owner and creator of Our Daily Bread Designs) because it is her birthday today! Happy Birthday Kelley! I wanted to make a pink and frilly card for Kelley for her birthday but evidently I didn't have pink and frilly in me today, I just kept coming back to clean and simple. The colors are from todays color challenge on SplitCoastStampers and the sketch is from the Lord Have Mercy! blog. I just kept seeing a butterfly peeking out from behind the verse and had to tear through my not inconsiderable collection of stamps to find it. What I used: ODBD DT Scripture Collection 1, Inkadinkado Garden Delight GP white, kraft, mellow moss card stock mellow moss, basic black stamp pads RR SU brads mellow moss taffeta ribbon

with heartfelt sympathy...

I had a super busy weekend and it felt so good this morning to settle down in my little office, with the washer and dryer going, knowing that I had time to play along with some challenges. I actually combined 3 challenges together to make this card. I used the Mojo Monday sketch , the SplitCoastStampers Technique Lovers challenge and the Stampin' Sisters in Christ challenge . Below is the Mojo Monday sketch. Todays Technique Lovers challenge is faux suede. If you follow the link above to the challenge Lynn provides a good explanation of this technique. Not sure how well this picture show it but the chocolate chip layer behind the main image is sueded. I love the soft look this gives and the added texture. The Stampin' Sisters in Christ challenge is to show the "earth rejoicing" for that I chose the soft earth tones in this card and the wonder ferns in the designer paper a I have chosen. The stamp set is With Heartfelt Sympathy, one of the new releases from Ou

Anyone for Anya; Your Anya

Image
Good morning all! I am in the middle of a major cheer and football weekend. It is homecoming here in my home town, where we are blessed to live within walking distance of most of the festivities. You have to love small town America where for homecoming we still have a spaghetti supper , bonfire, dance and crowning of the king and queen on Friday night. Followed by a 5K race, parade, alumni gathering and home football game on Saturday. Add into that 2 Pop Warner football games, cheer fest and a cheer competition and you have my weekend in a nut shell. This weeks Anyone for Anya challenge is "Your Anya" . So my kids are my life. If I am Anya then as the mother of 5 I am buried in laundry. So this is Anya as me... What I used: The Greetings Farm, HG Laundry kraft, chocolate chip, GP white card stock My Minds Eye Simply Beautiful designer paper Lyra colored pencils, OMS and blending stump copics for flesh tones and shading wide stitched chocolate chip ribbon
