Good morning all.  Are you ready for another challenge?  This weeks Papertake Weekly challenge is another fabulous sketch from our own Dawny P.  I love blues and this paper from My Mind's Eye Home collection is the prettiest blue, so I colored my adorable Sarah Kay image to coordinate with it.  As usual I used my trusty Prismacolor pencils and just a touch of Copic markers for the flesh tones and shadows.  So what do you think? Okay todays Anyone for Anya? challenge is entitled Something Completely Different but I didn't quite manage completely different, just sort of different.  I added my verse, sort of out of the box, something I never do and I added a half circle layer to my card as well, which is once again something I never do.  I bet you can do a lot better job on it, so why don't you join us and play along?!?!? Hello everyone!  Are you ready for another Color Throwdown ?  This weeks colors are light green (I used river rock or sage shadow would be good too), rust and burgundy.  The colors were inspired by the Vintage Valentine paper from Fancy Pants.  Danielle and Tammy both used it on their samples and it is a really pretty strip.  For my card I hunted through my scraps until I found a bit of Stampin' Up! Ginger Blossom designer paper and used that for the base of my design.  I wanted to make the Scripture on this card the focal point so I just added a couple of layers of color and a fancy border from Martha Stewart around it and some simple embellishments.   Make sure you pop over to the rest of the teams blogs.  They have created some fun stuff. framed art...

Image
Good morning all.  I am really excited to share with you today a project that I have made with one of the February new release sets, my favorite this month,  "You Will Find Refuge" .   I have to say I am really very proud of this one.  Anyone that follows my blog , knows that I have a major issue with three dimensional projects, I almost never do them because they never, ever come out the way I pictured them in my head.  But one thing I can do is framed art.  I love doing them as gifts. I started with a really cheap black frame that I picked up on clearance.  Usually I sand the frame and then paint it.  But today because I wanted a very distressed look so I didn't, the paint doesn't stick as well if you don't sand first.  I painted the frame with a thin coat of Tim Holtz Distress Crackle Paint in antique linen.  When the paint was dry and crackled I lightly sanded the frame to distress it.  I then ran a Tim Holtz Distress pad...

Good Morning all.  Do you want a good chuckle at my expense?  Well here is my story.  I waited until the last minute yesterday to make my card for this weeks Anyone for Anya? challenge .  Being in the states I am a bit behind London time and my card should be in by midnight.  No problem that is 7:00pm here and since I usually work at least 4-5 days ahead it is rarely, if ever, an issue.  Well I had a child home sick from school for 3 days this week, then the hubby was off from work Friday, as was I, so we spent the day goofing off.  Saturday rolls around and I had planned to finish up the last of the books for the businesses so we can go see the tax guy, which takes most of the day, but I still have plenty of time to do my card.  I updated my calendar and to do list for the next 6 weeks then headed to my office.  I probably should have actually LOOKED at the to do list because I made a really adorable card, took a picture, loaded it on to my ...

Love Me Do...

Image
Welcome to the LOVE ME DO blog hop sponsored by Stamping Bella !  If you have just happened upon my my blog you may want to go to Bloggabella and start at the beginning.  I made this card for one of my Valentines.  I kept the card fairly simple because I wanted the adorable APTEE'tude image to shine.  I colored her with my trusty colored pencils, blending with OMS and added glitter to her sting of hearts.  I layered some Cosmo Cricket scraps together for the back ground, scalloping one edge and sewing around the edge.  How about a prize?  In addition to the fabulous eye candy, we have decided to hide a prize somewhere along the hop!  One pre-selected blogger will draw a random winner from the comments on her post, and the winner will receive a $25 Gift Voucher to Stamping Bella!!!  The fun part is...we're not telling you who it is!  So as you hop, make sure you leave comments, show the sistas some love, on every post so you have a chan...

Good morning all!  It is Wednesday morning, time for another  Color Throwdown challenge .  This weeks colors are Blush Blossom, Sage Shadow and Riding Hood Red.  Isn't that a sweet color combination?   I thought they would be fun colors to make a Valentine card with.  I used an image from Moe's digital pencil that was a freebie over on Paper Craft Planet .  I colored my image with a mix of Copic markers and Prismacolor pencils.  Added a bit of texture with a Sizzix plate and a Cuttlebug embossing folder, a touch of Riding Hood Red ribbon and some jumbo white brads. papertake weekly Kraftin' Kimmie...

Image
Good morning. You all know I love a challenge and what is better then a challenge? How about combining two challenges? This weeks sponsor for the Papertake Weekly challenge is Kraftin' Kimmie , so I thought it would be brilliant to combine our sketch challenge with Kimmie's "Be a Little Ripper " challenge. Now I turned our sketch to accommodate a long tall image like this Lola Davinci of Kimmie's. I colored my image with Prismacolor pencils blending with odorless mineral spirits and a blending stump to match some scraps of My Mind's Eye Colorful Christmas. I used copic markers for the shadows and flesh tones. If you look very carefully you will notice that my olive green edge is ripped above the sentiment. our sponsor: our sketch: Pop over to the challenge blog and check out what the rest of the team has done.  We would love for you to play along with us.

Good Enough to Eat!

Image
Good Morning all!  Todays card that I am sharing with you if for this weeks "Anyone for Anya?" challenge.  Our challenge this week is entitled "Good Enough to Eat" and it is a color challenge.  W e were to use food color combos such as lemon and lime, strawberries and cream, or coffee and cream.  I chose to use Pumpkin Pie and So Saffron card stock from Stampin' Up! to make up my warm (and yes, yummy) color combination.  I pulled the colors from some My Mind's Eye Home designer paper (that I had picked up in a mat pack which is perfect for card making) then colored my Anya image to match with Prismacolor pencils.  For inspiration on this card I also used this past Friday's sketch from Taylored Expressions . Our sponsor this week is: Make sure you pop over the the blog and check out the challenge and what the rest of the team has done.  We would love for you to play along and maybe win a prize.

sing to the lord a new song...

Image
Good morning all. Since the very first time I saw the new Basic Grey Origins designer paper I knew I wanted to use it with bird images. I thought that I would take a break from the newest Our Daily Bread Designs stamps and pull out an oldie but goodie "Sing to the Lord" for this one. Betty Wright has challenged us to use this set and add dimension and texture in her Stamping in Time challenge . Now I cheated just a bit on this one. Because I wanted to use the Mojo Monday sketch , I need the bird to be facing in the opposite direction then he does. So I stamped the image on vellum paper and embossed the image then colored it with markers. I then turned the image over, so that my bird faces in the opposite direction. The verse is also embossed on vellum and overlaid on designer paper like the bird image. My verse is popped up on foam tape to add dimension and I added ribbon and brads in addition to the embossing to add some texture. What I used: ODBD Sing to the Lor...

the color throwdown...

Image
I am really excited to announce that the team at the Color Throwdown blog has chosen me to be their guest designer this month. Isn't that fun? The colors for this week are Kraft, Pink Pirouette, and Soft Sky. Isn't that a wonderful combo? This weeks sponsor Starving Artists have generously provided me with several images from their DoodleFactory Classic Decor line. I chose the large chandelier and colored it with Copic markers, then added lots of stickles and a couple of highlights with my glitter pen. I dug through my scrap stash and managed to find a bit of pink pirouette designer paper to add some interest and some white satin ribbon to dress it all up.

Image
Good morning everyone. I am spending one of my last free mornings at home today, before I start back up at work tonight. Between doing all of that stuff that needs to be done to keep a family of 7 running smoothly and babysitting for one of my little buddies I found some time to bang out a card for a couple of challenges. I did this one for todays SplitCoastStampers color challenge and I used Mercy's Lord Have Mercy sketch for inspiration. I colored up the sparrow from Our Daily Bread Designs, "He Watches Me" to look like a gold finch, something I have been wanting to do since I received the sets. What do you think? What I used: ODBD He Watches Me SU french script white, bravo burgundy, basic gray card stock SU Nouveau Chic designer paper Versafine black stamp pad, basic gray stamp pad Prismacolor pencils, OMS and blending stumps crushed curry polka dot ribbon
