anyone for anya?

Image
Good Morning all. It look like it is going to be a lovely day here today, though I have to work for a good portion of it, I will still get a chance to enjoy it later. Being Sunday morning it is time for another Anyone for Anya? challenge . This weeks challenge is a sketch challenge. My Miss Anya is colored with Copic markers. I am still getting the hang of my copics and suspect that I will never be as good with them as I am with colored pencils but I am getting better. She was colored to match this My Mind's Eye Signature Christmas and layered with a touch of true thyme and bravo burgundy card stock. I added a couple of thin burgundy ribbon to finish it off. this week's sketch... our sponsor! Please join us and play along this week and make sure you check out the rest of the design teams blog.

bellarific friday sketch challenge...

Image
It has been a while since I had time to play along with a Bellarific Friday challenge but this week I found some time. This image is one of my stash of images I had colored ahead, I did this one with my limited selection of Copic markers. Unfortunately I seem to have misplaced the designer paper that I colored the image to match so I had to find a substitute, this piece from My Mind's Eye seemed to work. Truly I am not sure what I was thinking at all with this color combo but hey the image was colored so why not use it. In real life the ribbon matches the paper I played around with the lighting and nothing would change the way it photographs so you will have to use a bit of imagination. I of course did not have any brads that matched so I used some craft ink and clear embossing powder to make the brads this shocking pink. My Attitudy has a touch of glaze and glitter added to her glasses, bag and shoes. This second card is one I did weeks ago for another Bellarific Friday Chal

happy thanksgiving...

Image
Happy Thanksgiving my friends! I hope you all have the opportunity to gather with friends and family today. I will be at my mother-in-laws with the whole family. Today I am thankful for many things; a loving God, my family, my husband and the children God has placed in our care, wonderful friends, a home that is nearly complete and mostly ours, a great church family, a small close knit community, the time to spend on my craft and the where withall to do so thanks to a fun part-time job. I managed to carve out a couple of moments this morning to put this card together for the SplitCoastStampers Ways to Use it challenge. The image is one that I colored experimenting with my Copic markers, to match this My Mind's Eye designer paper. I am a long, long, long way away from being competent with these markers but am determined to master them.

mission re-organization...

Image
I have been on a mission this fall to rearrange my creative space. In my Stampin' Up! demo days I always had my Stampin' Up! stuff separated from the contraband but now those days are over and things needed to change. The biggest changes I wanted to make were to: 1. keep like things together, for example all the paper in one place, all the ribbon in another. 2. unmount most of my wood mounted stamps to conserve space 3. to have everything within reach but put away I function better creatively when everything is put away. My space is tiny, only 10 foot x 9 foot and I have to share the space with my washer, dry and large freezer, so every inch needs to be used to its best advantage and ruthlessly organized. Here is the view from the doorway. The walls are just a shade lighter then Ruby Red. You get a look at my main work area. The butcher block table used to reside in my parents home, I inherited it when they moved to Florida. In the far left corner tucked between the f

challenges...

Image
Avoiding everything I am supposed to be doing today and playing instead. I combined a couple of challenges on this card. The color combination; Pretty in Pink, Bermuda Bay, and Old Olive is todays SplitCoastStampers color challenge . The card layout is from the current Bella SCS sketch challeng e and I am also entering it in the Bella Birthday Bash contest. I colored this Ketto image a while ago to match some Basic Grey Urban Prairie paper and have just been waiting for the perfect time to make her into a card. Today was that day because the paper contains all the colors in the challenge. Ketto is colored with my favorite Lyra colored pencils blending with odorless mineral spirits and a blending stump. Hard to see in the picture but I also added some touches of glitter with a Sakura glitter pen and a bit of glaze with their glaze pen. This second card I did for the Lord Have Mercy sketch challenge . I can't say enough how much I love Mercy's sketches, the simplicity o

papertake weekly challenge and a sneak peek...

Image
This weeks Papertake Weekly challenge is entitled "Cracked Christmas" . The challenge is to show us your favorite Christmas card. This weeks sponsor is: As I opened my design team package from the fabulous Kelley at Our Daily Bread Designs on Friday I was totally blown away by the beauty of the December releases (ODBD new release blog hop is Dec 1st)and had to immediately change what I was doing for todays challenge so that I could give you a little sneak peek. Isn't that one of the most beautiful images you have ever seen??? I was so excited by this image that I immediately stamped it and began coloring. Unfortunately I was so excited that I colored it without even thinking about what I was going to do with it once I had it colored. Usually when I create a card I start with the paper and card stock, or sketch, then paper and card stock. I then color the image to coordinate. Because I colored the image first I need to do some tweaking to get everything to work t

a little mojo in my monday...

Image
Sometimes your Mondays just need a little mojo, or at least mine do and when mine needs it, I head on over to the Mojo Monday sketch challeng e for a little bit of inspiration. Todays sketch is a wonderfully simple one. A great one I thought to highlight this really fun Sei designer paper that I have been hoarding all month. I thought I would combine the sketch challenge with this weeks Stamping Sisters in Christ challenge which is to make a card expressing thanks or thanksgiving. Rejoicing is thankgiving, right? What I used: Our Daily Bread Designs Christmas Verses navy and white SU card stock SU navy ink pad Sei designer paper EKSuccess wavy edge punch corner rounder rhinestone brad white satin ribbon

make a fake...

Image
Morning friends! Lovely Sunday morning here, which means it is time for another " Anyone for Anya " challenge. This weeks challenge is to "Make a Fake" . So anything fake. I kind of did two fakes on this one, lovely Miss Anya's fur trim is not real (because we don't believe in that stuff) but flocking. And my second fake involves the sketch I used to create the card. The sketch from Midnight Madness sketch challeng e calls for a charm hanging below the bow and I didn't have a charm that would work so I substituted a brad. This weeks sponsor of our challenge is Dies to Dies for. Make sure you pop over to the challenge blog and see what the rest of the team has done. Join us won't you? What I used: The Greetings Farm baja breeze, soft suede, old olive, whisper white card stock My Mind's Eye Abbey Road designer paper soft suede polka dot ribbon snowflake brads (that have been in my stash for so long that I have no clue where they came from) f

just for fun...

Image
I am a happy girl today. I have spent quite a bit of time lately reorganizing my office. I have finally made the transition from Stampin' Up! business demo to hmmm not sure what the right word would be, artist (sounds kind of pretentious). I won't bore you with all the details today but be prepared because I will share some pictures next week. In celebration of my clean office I just had to sit down and create something. I won this adorable Oliver as blog candy from the last Kraftin' Kimmie's blog hop. I just think he is the cutest so I inked him up and colored him with my Lyra colored pencils, blending with OMS and a blending stump. I added a touch of glitter to the snow around his feet and a touch of glaze to his beak and feet. This weeks Kraftin' Kimmie's challenge is "Lots a Circles" if you look carefully one of my designer papers in a polka dot and the back ground paper has snowflakes that are circles as well. I also added 2 jumbo brads,

quick and simple...

Image
When I have had a really busy or difficult week I love to sit down and just create a simple card. Nothing fancy, no difficult techniques just a back to basics, clean and simple card. Well the last couple of weeks have been those kind of weeks and the perfect thing to do on a quiet afternoon was to create a couple of super simple cards. The first card I just wanted the verse and the gorgeous designer paper to be the center of attention. The second card was to created to spotlight just one shimmery poinsettia and a simple message. What I used, Glory to God card: ODBD Christmas Blessings black and vanilla card stock SEI designer paper Memento black stamp pad wide black grosgrain ribbon cream colored button (from Grandma's button box) hemp What I used, Peace on Earth card: ODBD Luke 2:11 vanilla and black card stock Memento black stamp pad wide black grosgrain ribbon EKSuccess scalloped edge punch markers Tattered Angel glimmer mist stickles

papertake weekly Peggy Loves Vintage

Image
Good morning all. It is time for another Papertake Weekly challenge . This weeks challenge is a sketch challenge sponsored by Peggy Loves Vintage , who supplied this cool old image for me to work with today. Now vintage isn't really my thing, not that I don't like the look, I just don't do it well but I gave this one my best shot. The image is printed on vanilla card stock, this is actually a rubber stamping free card. I found this designer paper in my stash that had the kind of look I was going for then I added some black accents to the red and cream. What I used: Peggy Love Vintage image black and vanilla card stock My Mind's Eye Magnolia designer paper narrow black grosgrain ribbon vintage brads

It is time for another Anyone for Anya? challenge . This weeks challenge is "Getting Around to It. I colored up little Miss Anya with my Lyra colored pencils to match my Basic Grey paper. Then used a Sizzix scalloped circle die to cut the card base, and my Coluzzle to cut the remaining layers in a circle. Make sure you pop over to the challenge blog to see what the rest of the team has done and to play along. papertake weekly DigiSparkle

Image
Hi everyone, soooooo very sorry about the late post. My lovely children are all finally recovered from the flu but they managed to pass it along to mom and lets just say I haven't been feeling my best. As a matter of fact I felt so rotten that I didn't even realize that I hadn't scheduled todays post. So enough of my whining and onto the stamping. Todays Papertake Weekly challenge is sponsored by and they are providing this weeks prize. The challenge is to use a Digi image and add a bit of sparkle. Not very easy to see but I added a bit of glitter to the background paper on this and the ribbon is so pretty and shiny. What I used: DigiSparkle image GP white card stock My Minds Eye designer paper Memento black stamp pad copic markers SU ribbon

anyone for anya?

Image
Todays Anyone for Anya? challenge is a recipe challenge. We were challenged to use 3 designer papers, 2 buttons and 1 ribbon. Our sponsor this week is Dies to Die for . I just received my first set of copic markers and this card is the first one I have done using them. There is a bit of a learning curve with these markers and I am not yet able to get the results that I do with colored pencils but I am working on it. What I used: The Greeting Farm, Miss Anya whisper white, pumpkin pie card stock My Minds Eye designer paper copic markers pumpkin polka dot ribbon (vendor unknown) glaze pen buttons

stitch it up!

Image
Todays Kraftin' Kimmie challenge is to "Stitch it Up! " I colored up Charlotte to match this designer paper from the My Mind's Eye Bloom & Grow pack. I stitched the various layers together, added a touch of moss colored taffeta ribbon and some eyelets. Added a touch of gloss and sparkle with my glaze and glitter pens.

3 challenge combo...

Image
Between working yesterday and Ellie still being sick (and running her to the doctor) I didn't manage to finish my card for yesterdays SplitCoastStampers sketch challenge and the Color Throwdown until this morning. But it just still desperately needed something. No room for my fav embellishment ribbon, hmmm maybe brads, not sure, so I hit the web for inspiration. When I checked the SplitCoastStampers Ways to Use it challenge , which is to use something sticky, I had my answer, I have some sticky bling which I never use. Pulled it out and stuck it on, now my card isn't boring anymore. What do you think? What I used: Whiff of Joy stamps SU kraft, always artichoke, dusty durango, whisper white card stock Lyra colored pencils, OMS and blending stump sticky bling

sketch and color challenges

Image
I still have one kid home from school sick with the flu and one of my girlfriends sons too. I am watching her son today so she can work and she is watching my daughter tomorrow so I can work. Thank God for friends! Since the kids are being so good I got a little time this morning to stamp. Checked out the Lord Have Mercy sketch first thing (because she has the bestest sketches ever) and the color challenge on SplitCoastStampers . Decided to combine the two together but didn't quite get the sketch right, so I did a second one with one of the images that I colored earlier this week. What I used: Elzybell Art Stamps (reindeer card), Stamping Bella Ketto GP white, SU basic black for both cards, Elzybell kraft (reindeer card), SU riding hood red (Bella card) Memento black stamp pad Cuttlebug embossing folder (reindeer card) Lyra colored pencils, OMS and blending stump white gel pen, glitter pen, glaze pen Spare Parts brads SU red polka dot ribbon (reindeer card) and baja breeze st
