Our Daily Bread Designs Anniversary Challenge: Cotton

This morning I am really happy to share with you the exciting start to the Our Daily Bread Designs anniversary celebration.  This morning begins the first of several one day only challenges.  Since we are celebrating the anniversary of ODBD the challenges this week focus on gifts for Anniversaries.  Cotton is the traditional gift for the second anniversary so todays challenge is to use Cotton in some way, stamp on cotton, use cotton ribbon, make a cotton flower, just be creative.  For all the details of the challenge please pop over to the Our Daily Bread Designs blog, join us and play along.  Make sure you visit each of the participating members blog because every day between now and the 17th some of the members of the design team and challenge team have blog candy.

For my challenge card I decided to pull out a bit of cotton muslin fabric, left over from my quilting days. I tea dyed it because it was just a little to white for me.  The image was stamped directly on the muslin.  I then masked the image and stamped over it with a script background stamp.  After removing the mask I carefully colored the image with markers using a wet paint brush to move the color around a bit and to allow it to bleed and blend together.  I frayed the edges of the muslin then sewed around the edges several times with my sewing machine.  I did a bit of distressing on the background layers then finished my card off with a bit of cotton twill ribbon, a tag and some linen thread.
Now make sure you hop over to the ODBD's blog to play along and visit the challenge teams blogs for a chance to win some blog candy.

What I used:
ODBD The Lord has Risen
SU french script, weathered
SU chocolate chip card stock
DCWV Old World designer paper
SU chocolate chip, Tim Holtz Tea Dye Distress, Versafine black ink pads
muslin fabric, twill tape, linen thread
Tim Holtz idea-ology fragments
tonic distressing tool
sewing machine

Hi Debi~

This card is wonderful and should go into a frame. I love the colors you used, as well as your techniques. I love how you worked that wonderful sentiment on to the art.

My Grandmother used to have some tiny pink African Violets. Oh, I wonder if that stamp will ever not remind me of her.

Happy Anniversary!
